Haint Blue Ceilings

Few People Know The Real Reason Porch Ceilings In The South Are Painted Haint Blue In Color:

Raise your hand if your porch ceiling is painted light blue. Welcome to the South, where a light blue front porch ceiling is a common feature of many homes, especially older ones.

It originated in the Gullah culture of South Carolina, where porch ceilings were painted “Haint Blue” to ward off evil spirits from the home. Because rumor had it that spirits wouldn’t cross water, porch ceilings were painted light blue or greenish-blue to mimic a water surface. The Gullah tradition spread throughout the southern states, and warding off ghosts is one big reason people give for the haint-blue ceilings found on porches of homes.

But there’s another, perhaps even more common reason cited for such a practice. Light blue ceilings are said to discourage wasps from building their nests on the ceiling of your porch, because the light blue color tricks the unwelcome insects into thinking the ceiling is part of the sky. Apparently, spiders (and perhaps even other bug pests) are discouraged from hanging out on the porch for the same reason.

There’s some question whether it’s the color that actually repels these insects or the fact that lye, a natural insect repellent, was mixed in with the paint when this tradition started.

Plus, light blue is a cool, refreshing, calming color that reflects plenty of light into the shade of a front porch, making it the perfect canopy for a pleasant interlude spent swaying gently in a rocker or a porch swing while you watch the world go by.

I choose Me

Most of my life has been spent trying to shrink myself.

Trying to become smaller. Quieter. Less sensitive. Less opinionated. Less needy. Less me.

Because I didn’t want to be a burden. I didn’t want to be too much or push people away. I wanted people to like me. I wanted to be cared for and valued. I wanted to be wanted.

So for years, I sacrificed myself for the sake of making other people happy. And for years, I suffered.

But I’m tired of suffering, and I’m done shrinking. It’s not my job to change who I am in order to become someone else’s idea of a worthwhile human being.

I am worthwhile. Not because other people think I am, but because I exist, and therefore I matter.

My thoughts matter. My feelings matter. My voice matters. And with or without anyone’s permission or approval, I will continue to be who I am and speak my truth. Even if it makes people angry. Even if it makes them uncomfortable. Even if they choose to leave. I refuse to shrink.

I choose to take up space. I choose to honour my feelings. I choose to give myself permission to get my needs met.

I choose to make self-care a priority.

I choose me.

Hug the Mother

Hold the mother, not the baby.⁣

Because the baby’s being taken care of—⁣

fed, snuggled, and given all the love in the world—⁣

by not only the mother,⁣

but her partner, grandparents, siblings, cousins, and friends.⁣

But the mother,⁣

may have gaps in her mind from lack of sleep,⁣

may be mechanical in her motions as she’s healing,⁣

may feel more like a mess than a mother,⁣

may be sitting in bed, crying, feeling overwhelmed in her body and life,⁣

may be full of mom guilt because in her mind, “she’s not good enough,”⁣

and she’s bleeding, wincing in pain, swollen and emotional.⁣

And the mother’s that baby’s whole world and needs to be seen, so she doesn’t disappear into that postpartum fog.⁣

So, hold the mother, not the baby.⁣

A mother agrees that her baby matters more.⁣

But she’s hurting, while she’s the person behind the baby,⁣

in the background, making it all happen:⁣

feeding her baby at all hours,⁣

snuggling her baby close to comfort newborn cries,⁣

and being that baby’s everything.⁣

So, it’s the mother who needs your love.⁣

And a mother will remember who held her up.⁣

So instead of “I’m coming to see the baby,”⁣

try saying, “I’m coming to see you 𝘢𝘯𝘥 meet the baby, too.”⁣

Because the mother needs to be held more.⁣

Releasing Prayer

I release my parents from the feeling that they have failed with me.

I release my children from the need to make me proud, so that they can write their own ways, according to their hearts.

I release my partner from the obligation to make me feel complete. I lack nothing in myself.

I learn with all the beings that surround me through all time.

I thank my grandparents and ancestors who met so that today I breathe life. And I release them from the faults of the past and from the wishes they did not fulfill, aware that they did the best they could to resolve their situations, within the consciousness they had at that moment.

I honor them, I love them, and I recognize their innocence.

I bare my soul before their eyes and that is why they know that I do not hide or owe anything, more than being faithful to myself and my own existence walking with the wisdom of the heart.

I am aware that I am fulfilling my life project, free of visible and invisible family loyalties that may disturb my peace and my happiness, which are my greatest responsibilities.

I renounce the role of savior, of being the one who unites or who fulfills the expectations of others. And learning through LOVE, I bless my essence and my way of expressing, although there may be someone who cannot understand me.

I understand myself, because only I lived and experienced my story; because I know myself, I know who I am, what I feel, what I do and why I do it.

I respect and approve.

I honor the Divinity in me and in you.

We are free.

Leave the Dishes

“Leave the dishes.

Let the celery rot in the bottom drawer of the refrigerator

and an earthen scum harden on the kitchen floor.

Leave the black crumbs in the bottom of the toaster.

Throw the cracked bowl out and don’t patch the cup.

Don’t patch anything. Don’t mend. Buy safety pins.

Don’t even sew on a button.

Let the wind have its way, then the earth

that invades as dust and then the dead

foaming up in gray rolls underneath the couch.

Talk to them. Tell them they are welcome.

Don’t keep all the pieces of the puzzles

or the doll’s tiny shoes in pairs, don’t worry

who uses whose toothbrush or if anything

matches, at all.

Except one word to another. Or a thought.

Pursue the authentic-decide first

what is authentic,

then go after it with all your heart.

Your heart, that place

you don’t even think of cleaning out.

That closet stuffed with savage mementos.

Don’t sort the paper clips from screws from saved baby teeth

or worry if we’re all eating cereal for dinner

again. Don’t answer the telephone, ever,

or weep over anything at all that breaks.

Pink molds will grow within those sealed cartons

in the refrigerator. Accept new forms of life

and talk to the dead

who drift in though the screened windows, who collect

patiently on the tops of food jars and books.

Recycle the mail, don’t read it, don’t read anything

except what destroys

the insulation between yourself and your experience

or what pulls down or what strikes at or what shatters

this ruse you call necessity.”

Spiritual Warfare : Update

Much of what he says I have

heard or equates and makes

sense given current status

and events .

This does boil down to war

of spirit and shadow . It only

takes 11% of the worlds

population to effect change

and this return to love is

New Earth’s core which is

not going to be everyone’s

experience .

Lightening our ” loads ” ,

laying burdens down , know

truths are liberating as the

tribes form and we are the

force of evolution leaping

quantum style and these

horrific cycles never show

up again.

Sacrifices have been tragic in

this leap , as those who have

not awakened struggle and

hold tighter to their imbalance

of mind , body and spirit .

Fear and anger prevail and

not only affect your health

but fail to attract the more

positive experiences . Ease

Peace and Faith guide my

Love and that remains .

This is a big freaking deal

and I’m Thankful for my

personal transformations

of decades and the ancestral

Creating Space For Her

THE MAN WHO WALKS WITH THE HEALER~

When a man chooses a woman who follows her calling, his only chance to maintain the connection is in following her… and above all in creating space for her to follow her own path.

It may happen that he needs to abandon his own neediness, or that he finds a means of healing through their common path – but not in the gentlest manner.

When a man chooses a woman who heals the collective wounds of the women by following her calling, his Yes for her equals a Yes to a bigger purpose far beyond building a house or raising children. Their connection goes beyond fulfilling the classical gender role models.

For this man accepts the job of having the back of this woman, of catching her when she cannot transform the pain of the world anymore. It means for him to welcome a different form of sexuality, since healing on the level of sexuality is one of the most profound issues of the woman who needs to become a healer.

For him this, again, is about welcoming slowness, softness and healing – about holding back or redirecting his own drive… about being present for the whole.

Because when a man chooses a woman who aims for freedom, they can only achieve this together… and by him leaving his narcissistic aspects behind and recognizing the path of the woman as his own path towards freedom.

When a man chooses a woman who is bigger, he cannot dwell in the places of energies of oppression or of playing small. He – if he chooses to take on this mission with her – accepts a task serving the well-being of all men, even though it happens in the background. Within this background he creates space of security, of keeping her safe from an ambush bred by his own old wounds, driving her into submission.

When a man chooses a woman out of his fascination with her radiance and wisdom, it must be obvious to him that he cannot be stuck within his own deficits in a way that makes him want to diminish her radiance… purely out of fear of having to share her with others.

When a man chooses a woman who follows her calling, he cannot fear these words: respect, humility and surrender. He will rather walk the path of divinity – alongside his woman, the healer – with gratitude and an overflowing heart.

For such a woman will choose – if she ever needs to choose – in favour of the well-being of all women …and she will choose walking her path alone instead of leaving it for him. Nevertheless, she is aware of the power that lies in the presence of a man who is beating the drums… for her.~

No End to Life

Sharing sacred teachings…it is NOT a “doomsday prophecy”–

It is an opportunity…♡

“We were told that we would see America come and go. In a sense America is dying, from within, because they forgot the instructions of how to live on earth. It’s the Hopi belief, it’s our belief, that if you are not spiritually connected to the earth, and understand the spiritual reality of how to live on earth, it’s likely that you will not make it.

Everything is spiritual, everything has a spirit, everything was brought here by the creator, the one creator. Some people call him God, some people call him Buddha, some people call him Allah, some people call him other names. We call him Tunkaschila… Grandfather.

We are here on earth only a few winters, then we go to the spirit world. The spirit world is more real than most of us believe.

The spirit world is everything. Over 95% of our body is water. In order to stay healthy you’ve got to drink good water. … Water is sacred, air is sacred.

Our DNA is made out of the same DNA as the tree, the tree breaths what we exhale, we need what the tree exhales. So we have a common destiny with the tree.

We are all from the earth, and when earth, the water, the atmosphere is corrupted, then it will create its own reaction. The mother is reacting.

In the Hopi prophecy they say the storms and floods will become greater. To me it’s not a negative thing to know that there will be great changes. It’s not negative, it’s evolution. When you look at it as evolution, it’s time, nothing stays the same. You should learn how to plant something. That is the first connection.

You should treat all things as spirit, realize that we are one family. It’s never something like the end. Its like life, there is no end to life.”
