Mental Campaigns – Mad in America

An article published in New Ideas in Psychology hypothesizes that mental health awareness efforts in Western countries may be partially responsible for the rise of mental health problems those countries are experiencing. Psychologists Lucy Foulkes from the University of Oxford in the UK and Jack Andrews from the University of New South Wales in Australia wrote the article.

Foulkes and Andrews argue that the increase in mental health problems in places pushing greater mental health awareness likely involves at least two precipitating factors. First, more people with mental health problems accurately report symptoms that would have been under-reported, ignored, or dismissed if not for greater mental health awareness. Second, some people with mild forms of distress incorrectly interpret their experience as a mental health problem.

According to the authors, the latter case can lead to mental health problems that would have otherwise not existed due to the power of labeling. They write:

“First, we argue that mental health awareness efforts are leading to more accurate reporting of previously under-recognized symptoms, a beneficial outcome. Second, and more problematically, we propose that awareness efforts are leading some individuals to interpret and report milder forms of distress as mental health problems. We propose that this then leads some individuals to experience a genuine increase in symptoms because labeling distress as a mental health problem can affect an individual’s self-concept and behavior in a way that is ultimately self-fulfilling.”

Unmourned Loss

Our problem is not that as children our needs were unmet, but that, as adults, they are still unmourned. In fact, neediness itself tells us nothing about how much we need from others; it tells us how much we need to grieve the irrevocably barren past and evoke our own inner source of nurturance. What was missed can never be made up for, only mourned and let go of. We are grieving the irretrievable aspect of what we lost and the irreplaceable aspect of what we missed. Only these two realizations led to resolution of grief because only these acknowledge, without denial, how truly bereft we were or are. From the pit of this deep admission that something is irrevocably over and gone we finally stand clear of the insatiable need to find it again from our parents or partner. To have sought it was to have denied how utter was its absence.

The Myth of Mental Illness

I have several of Dr ‘s books . He was alive when I started my waking and very honored in the movement against psychiatry as we now know it . It’s a very lucrative profession co joined with Big Pharma ( chemical companies) and very powerful ; deadly and the culprit for the erasure of families. Diagnosing behavior , no test and prescribing toxic medications which distort and often destroy the health and well being of a targeted individual as the list of drugs increases with ” side effects ” of said RX

The 80’s , ” The Society of Suicide” accepted the shadow side of psychiatry and this deception took root in our legal system which has only gotten much worse .

I highly recommend any of Dr S ‘s books and found this one is on Youtube and with a Christian take on the book but mostly correct in his summation .

Narcissistic Alienating parent

Alienating behaviours generally fall into the category of narcissistic/borderline personality disorders. But they don’t think of themselves like that, such is their grandiosity and delusional mindset of superiority. Unfortunately, they typically refuse cooperation and cooparenting and counselling. They’ll make excuses – including lack of funds. But they’ll happily waste money on custody battles, and prolonged litigation. All they care about is ‘winning’ which is at the cost of everyone else. They don’t take responsibility or look for solutions; instead they blame others, and consider any solution offered to be a threat. Often the narcissistic alienating parent will be the most confident, charming one, they present well because they’re so sure of themselves and the indoctrination of the child, they’re confident they’ll fool everyone. The first person they delude is themselves – that they’re loving, protective and strong. In truth, they’re afraid of ‘losing’ and of sharing, they’re jealous of anyone else having something they believe is theirs alone. They’re vindictive. Court-appointed officials, judges and counsellors must have the skills and experience to recognise true abuse from excuses from those placing the blame elsewhere.

Suicide

In this article it’s mentioned that lacking religion ( church is a place of fellowship ) is part of the reason for suicide; however the youth polled attribute their faith to spiritual.

Loneliness is another factor and indeed parents are taking their own lives in knowledge their children won’t care for them or have their best interest at heart should they become I’ll or terminal .

The harshness of the indoctrination and then the traumatic experiences for those in any branch of the services plus the large amount of vaccines given at once must be considered with regard to Army suicides

Add to that the profit of psychiatric drugs for Big Pharma and the distorted DSM and many suicides don’t get reported as autopsies are done without checking for drugs in most cases .

My ” suicide ” attempt was induced by Dr prescribed 3600 mg of gabapentin as it known to do especially in such high doses .
