Gilded Cage – Easy Virtue / Mia Asher

“After that day, I discovered one indelible truth. I discovered that love wasn’t everything that mattered in life. It was an emotion that not many had the luxury of feeling without any pain attached to it. Many say that love will set you free, but I disagree. Love is a cage, a very painful one; its gilded bars made with yearning, heartache, and unfulfilled dreams. And the moment I realized that love wasn’t necessary to one’s survival I became free. No one would have the power to hurt me again.”

― Mia Asher, Easy Virtue

FORGET ABOUT HIM

You’re losing sleep over a man who’s probably sleeping just fine with another woman on his mind. You’re staring at your phone, waiting for a text from a man who’s likely having deep conversations with someone else.

You’re posting about him, hoping he’ll see it, while he’s busy with another woman. You’re crying over a man who’s probably making someone else smile right now.

If you’re not the woman he gives his all to, then he’s not the man you should be stressing over. Remember, you deserve someone who recognizes your worth and makes you their priority…❤️‍🔥👑💋

Breaking

When life breaks you, it is because you are ready to be put back together differently. Every piece of you that feels shattered is a piece that will find a new place, a new purpose, a new meaning.

Trust that the cracks are where the light gets in.

And sometimes, in our brokenness, we find our greatest wholeness.

We find the courage to rebuild, to reimagine, to redefine what it means to be strong.

You are not broken; you are breaking through.🥀🌷

Unreasonable People

One of the most important lessons we can learn in life is that we cannot reason with unreasonable people.

Peacefully walk away from anyone who will not listen to another point of view, or another’s experience, or who is fed fact-free information from biased sources.

It is unreasonable of us to think we can reason with them.

Distorted

I told you I was struggling,

Showed you the cracks beneath the surface,

But instead of helping me heal,

You poured salt into the wounds.

You saw my weaknesses and turned them into weapons,

Each word you spoke cut deeper,

And as I stood on the edge, barely holding on,

You gave me one more push.

It’s like you enjoyed watching me crumble,

Like seeing me lost gave you power.

You knew exactly where to strike,

Playing my mind like a game you couldn’t lose.

I wanted to be strong for you,

Wanted to be the man you could count on,

But you kept tearing me down,

Piece by piece, until nothing was left.

Now I sit here, broken and empty,

And somehow, I’m the one to blame.

You’ll say I was too distant, too cold,

That I couldn’t open up, couldn’t be enough.

And while you paint yourself as the victim,

The world will listen to your story,

But no one will see the quiet destruction

You left behind in me.

Greatest shift in humanity

Maybe right now your journey

isn’t about love.

Maybe right now your journey

is about you.

Maybe this is the season you are being challenged to be your own savior, to be your own safe place. Maybe right now you are being reminded —

that the people who walked away were only ever leading you back to yourself, were only ever leading you here.

And here, you are okay on your own.

Here, you are rebuilding.

Here, you are adapting, and mending, and reclaiming all of the pieces you let them walk away with.

Here, you are being kinder to your soul,

you are giving yourself the same kind of love you have always given to others.

Here, you are not rushing your heart,

you are not depending on another human being to fix it. Instead, here,

you are doing that on your own.

Here, you are Healing.
