Homelessness Past

It’s hard to imagine that anyone ordered this. Or even just bought it and hung it in the bedroom or dining room.

It’s impossible to look at this painting. This is so sad!

In Thomas Kennington’s painting Homeless People (1890), we see a mother leaning over her child. He is exhausted and is in a near-fainting state, either from hunger or illness.

Despite the rainy weather, he is dressed lightly. Apparently, he and his mother lost their home in the summer.

But it’s already autumn. But they still wander and cannot get out of this black pit of poverty.

Most likely, the woman’s husband died. And she and her child were kicked out of their rented accommodation.

And since then they have been living on the streets, eking out small jobs for pennies.

This was a great social tragedy for England in the mid-19th century.

Penny wages did not allow such families to purchase their own housing. And any adversity made women and children very vulnerable.

At that time, there were about 30 thousand homeless children living on the streets in London!

So, the artist decided to use this painting to draw attention to the existing problem.

And this is the painting he created.

The black and gray coloring, of course, echoes the misfortune that is happening.

But at the same time he is… handsome. Due to the illusion of a wet sidewalk. And also thick fog that blurs the background.

Everything is very concise. No vegetation. Only a dry tree, symbolizing the departure from life.

Not only is the landscape beautiful, but also heroes.

The artist himself believed that the painting should not only be truthful (after all, he was painting a real social phenomenon), but also beautiful.

What can we say, we sympathize more with beautiful people. Cinema takes advantage of this, often choosing pretty actors for the main roles.

Please note that the woman is not only beautiful, but also quite well-groomed! She has neat hair and clothes. Personal degradation has not yet touched her, despite the horror happening in her life.

She hasn’t given up yet. After all, unkemptness is the first sign of the beginning of degradation. When a person humbles himself and gives up.

Thus, the artist leaves hope to the viewer. That this is not the end yet. And the mother will still find the strength to help the child.

Yes, this painting was not intended for private buyers. The artist understood perfectly well that hardly anyone would want to hang such a picture in the bedroom or dining room.

But! At that time, museums and galleries quite readily acquired such paintings. Because they attracted more visitors.

This is what the artist was counting on. In a museum, such work will be available to more people. This means that the social problem will be discussed and, possibly, resolved.

At the same time, he made her as attractive as possible to the eye, which invariably attracts glances to her.

And so it happened. The painting was acquired by a public gallery in Melbourne. And to this day it is one of the most popular paintings in this museum.

Wife-Mother / Stay at home – She doesn’t work…

My wife doesn’t work…

Conversation between a husband (M) and a psychologist (P):

P: What do you do for a living, Mr. Rogers?

M: I am an accountant in a bank…

P: And your wife?

M: She doesn’t work. She’s a stay-at-home mom.

P: Who prepares breakfast for your family?

M: My wife, since she doesn’t work.

P: What time does your wife wake up in the morning?

M: She wakes up very early since things have to be organized. She prepares lunches for the children, she makes sure they are well dressed and combed, that they have eaten, brushed their teeth and collected all their school belongings. She wakes up with the baby, changes his diaper and breastfeeds him.

P: How do your children get to school?

M: My wife drives them to school, since she doesn’t work.

P: After driving the children to school, what does she do?

M: She goes to the supermarket to buy groceries or she does shopping for the house. Sometimes she forgets something and has to do the whole trip again with the crying baby. Once she returns home, she has to feed and breastfeed the baby, change his diaper and prepare him for a nap, clean the house and do the laundry. You know, since she doesn’t work.

P: In the evening, when you come back from the office, what do you do?

M: I’m resting, of course. I’m exhausted from my long day of work at the bank.

P: What does your wife do in the evening?

M: She cooks dinner, serves us food, washes the dishes, cleans the house and walks the dog. After helping the children with their homework, she gets them ready for bed and checks that they have brushed their teeth. Then she changes the baby’s diaper and breastfeeds him again. When she is in bed, she wakes up regularly to breastfeed and change diapers as needed, since she does not have to get up to go to work.

This is the daily routine of many women around the world. It starts at dawn and continues until the wee hours of the morning… and it’s called “don’t work”?!

Being a stay-at-home mom may not require a degree, but it is an essential family role!

Appreciate your wife, your mother, your grandmother, your aunt, your sister or your daughter… because their sacrifices are priceless.

Someone asked me…

“Are you a working woman, or are you just a stay-at-home mom?” »

I answered :

I am a woman who works at home, 24 hours a day…

I am a mother,

I’m a woman,

I am a girl,

I am an alarm clock,

I am the cook,

I am the housekeeper,

I am the mistress of the house,

I’m the waitress,

I am the nurse,

I am a nurse,

I am a manual worker,

I am a security guard,

I am the advisor,

I am the comforter,

I don’t have any time off,

I work day and night,

I am still on duty,

I don’t get paid and…

Even then, I often hear the phrase:

“But what do you do all day?” »

In tribute to all women who dedicate their lives to the well-being of their families.

To share with all the beautiful women in your life.

No worries ; Holding calm

Husband said to his wife – I am going out with my friends. She replied – Ok.

After a while, son said – Mother, i got my results for mock exams and it’s not good. Son expected to get a scolding from his mother but to his surprise, his mother calmly said – Ok. If you work hard you will be able to do good and if not you have to repeat semester. It’s up to you.

Next day, her daughter came to her and hesitatingly said – Mother, I smashed car. Daughter was scared that mother would get angry but to her surprise, she said – Ok. take it to car shop and get it fixed.

Person was usually irritated and grumpy, was now suddenly changed. Seeing such reactions, everyone got worried and thought if something was wrong. Everyone came to her and asked, “Is something wrong? Why are you acting so calm?” She smiled and replied, “It took me a long time to realize that, each person is responsible for their own life.

I realized that my anguish, worrying, anxiety, stress… doesn’t solve your problems but aggravates mine. I realized that i can only give you advice if you ask but it depends on you to follow or not. Whatever decision you take, its consequences good or bad, you will have to live with them. I am not responsible for actions of anyone. I realized that i can only control myself. My job is to care for you, love you, encourage you but after that it all depends on you to solve you problems and find your own happiness.

Therefore, I should remain calm and let each of you solve your problems yourself.” Everyone at home was speechless. From that day on, the family began to function better because everyone in the house knew exactly what it is that they needed to do!

First Mothers

”All the eggs a woman will ever carry form in her ovaries while she is a four month old fetus in the womb of her mother.

This means our cellular life as an egg begins in the womb of our grandmother.

Each of us spent five months in our grandmother’s womb, and she in turn formed in the womb of her grandmother.

We vibrate to the rhythm of our mother’s blood before she herself is born, and this pulse is the thread of blood that runs all the way back through the grandmothers to the first mother.”
