You are not

“You are not your age, nor the size of clothes you wear,

You are not a weight, or the color of your hair.

You are not your name, or the dimples in your cheeks.

You are all the books you read, and all the words you speak.

You are your croaky morning voice, and the smiles you try to hide.

You’re the sweetness in your laughter, and every tear you’ve cried.

You’re the songs you sing so loudly when you know you’re all alone.

You’re the places that you’ve been to, and the one that you call home.

You’re the things that you believe in, and the people whom you love.

You’re the photos in your bedroom, and the future you dream of.

You’re made of so much beauty, but it seems that you forgot

When you decided that you were defined by all the things you’re not.”

One Day Away

“Every person needs to take one day away. A day in which one consciously separates the past from the future. Jobs, family, employers, and friends can exist one day without any one of us, and if our egos permit us to confess, they could exist eternally in our absence. Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us.”~Maya Angelou

Women have other options

‘Women have another option. They can aspire to be wise, not merely nice; to be competent, not merely helpful; to be strong, not merely graceful; to be ambitious for themselves, not merely for themselves in relation to men and children. They can let themselves age naturally and without embarrassment, actively protesting and disobeying the conventions that stem from this society’s double standard about ageing. Instead of being girls, girls as long as possible, who then age humiliatingly into middle-aged women, they can become women much earlier – and remain active adults, enjoying the long, erotic career of which women are capable, far longer. Women should allow their faces to show the lives they have lived. Women should tell the truth.’

Susan Sontag – The Double Standard of Aging (1972)

Eagles & Snakes

The Eagle does not fight the snake on the ground.

It picks it up into the sky and changes the battle ground, and then it releases the snake into the sky.

The snake has no stamina, no power and no balance in the air.

It is useless, weak and vulnerable unlike on the ground where it is powerful wise and deadly.

Take your fight into the spiritual realm by praying and when you are in the spiritual realm God takes over your battles.

Don’t fight the enemy in his comfort zone,

change the battle grounds like the Eagle

and let God take charge through your earnest prayer.

You’ll be assured of a clean victory !!

God Describes Woman

“When God created woman he was working late on the 6th day…

An angel came by and asked…

“Why spend so much time on her?”

The lord answered…

“Have you seen all the specifications I have to meet to shape her?

She must function on all kinds of situations,

She must be able to embrace several kids at the same time,

Have a hug that can heal anything from a bruised knee to a broken heart,

She must do all this with only two hands,

She cures herself when sick and can work 18 hours a day.”

THE ANGEL was impressed

“Just two hands…..impossible!

And this is the standard model?”

The Angel came closer and touched the woman

“But you have made her so soft, Lord.”

“She is soft,”

said the Lord,

“But I have made her strong.

You can’t imagine what she can endure and overcome.”

“Can she think?”

The Angel asked.

The Lord answered…

“Not only can she think,

She can reason and negotiate.”

The Angel touched her cheeks….

“Lord, it seems this creation is leaking!

You have put too many burdens on her.”

“She is not leaking…

It is a tear.”

The Lord corrected the Angel.

“What’s it for?”

Asked the Angel.

The Lord said…

“Tears are her way of expressing her grief, her doubts, her love, her loneliness, her suffering and her pride.”

This made a big impression on the Angel,

“Lord, you are a genius.

You thought of everything.

A woman is indeed marvellous.”

Lord said…

“Indeed she is.

She has strength that amazes a man.

She can handle trouble and carry heavy burdens.

She holds happiness, love and opinions.

She smiles when she feels like screaming.

She sings when she feels like crying, cries when happy and laughs when afraid.

She fights for what she believes in.

Her love is unconditional.

Her heart is broken when a next-of-kin or a friend dies,

But she finds strength to get on with life.”

The Angel asked…

“So she is a perfect being?”

The lord replied…

“No.

She has just one drawback,

She often forgets what she is worth.”

Rumi

Listen, oh beautiful soul.

Every day a new feast

comes running into your life.

Always a new experience.

Your body is like a guest house,

receiving company from the hidden world.

Some are positive,

some are tragic,

and still others who are frantic.

All mirroring your needs.

All showing you ways to expand.

All challenging your beliefs.

Whoever that comes from these unseen lands,

receive it without regret.

Welcome all that come to you,

with no judgment.

Remember, every visitor,

here a short time,

meant only for your growth.

Cleopatra

Shared by : Ancient Knowledge

Cleopatra ascended the throne at the age of 17 and died at the age of 39. She spoke 9 languages. She knew the language of Ancient Egypt and had learned to read hieroglyphics, a unique case in her dynasty. Apart from this, she knew Greek and the languages of the Parthians, Hebrews, Medes, Troglodytes, Syrians, Ethiopians, and Arabs.

With this knowledge, any book in the world was open to her. In addition to languages, she studied geography, history, astronomy, international diplomacy, mathematics, alchemy, medicine, zoology, economics, and other disciplines. She tried to access all the knowledge of her time.

Cleopatra spent a lot of time in a kind of ancient laboratory. She wrote some works related to herbs and cosmetics. Unfortunately, all her books were destroyed in the fire of the great Library of Alexandria in 391 AD. C. The famous physicist Galen studied her work, and was able to transcribe some of the recipes devised by Cleopatra.

One of these remedies, which Galen also recommended to her patients, was a special cream that could help bald men regain their hair. Cleopatra’s books also included beauty tips, but none of them have come down to us.

The queen of Egypt was also interested in herbal healing, and thanks to her knowledge of languages, she had access to numerous papyri that are lost today. Her influence on the sciences and medicine was well known in the early centuries of Christianity. She, without a doubt, is a unique figure in the history of humanity.
