“Viruses are considered to be obligate parasites. They need your cells in their tissue machinery, the host cells, in order to stay alive. They can’t live in the air. So in that respect they can’t live on a surface. They need to live within another organism. Coronaviruses essentially live within all animals, different kinds of animals, different types of coronaviruses. Coronaviruses by themselves are not alive. They need to have a host cell in the cell machinery to make more copies or replicas of themselves. They are not by themselves alive.”
